Humoral nature of the hypoglycemic factor of muscular work.

چکیده
The striated muscle mass of the body, by virtue of its weight alone, constitutes the major quantitative factor in the bodily conversion of foodstuffs to CO2, water and energy. The flow of gluconeogenic precursors to the liver, the hepatic manufacture of sugar and the release of glucose in the satisfaction of the ever-changing needs of total muscular activity of the body represent a complex of regulation which is taken for granted but is understood inadequately in detail. Outside of an occasional epinephrine-induced hyperglycemia, the stability of the blood sugar gives no indication of the changing ebb and flow of foodstuff which attends the wide range of activity from the sedentary, basal muscle tone of deep sleep to the mild, moderate or severe exertions which characterize the normal course of events. The minute by minute alterations in oxygen consumption and the difficulties experienced in making a truly basal metabolic rate measurement are common clinical experiences. This variability in oxygen consumption must be reflected in equivalent variation in the rate of substrate metabolism.

متن کاملارزیابی ارگونومیک طرح جدید پوست کن دستی بر اساس روش الکترومیوگرافی
Background and aims : In our daily lives hand tools are often used in many work situations. With respect to design characteristics, hand tools can be considered a risk factor when a high level of repetition are required or when awkward postures are adopted. Therefore attention to ergonomics design rules for hand tools is the most important factor in design process. With this in mind, the aim ...
متن کاملThe Effect of 8 Weeks Resistance Training With Low Load and High Load on Testosterone, Insulin-like Growth Factor-1, Insulin-like Growth Factor Binding Protein-3 Levels, and Functional Adaptations in Older Women
Objectives The loss of muscle mass in older adults is attributed to the impaired ability of the skeletal muscle in response to anabolic stimuli and the increased activation of the proteolytic signaling pathway. With increasing age, plasma concentrations of circulating anabolic hormones and growth factors, e.g. testosterone, Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1) and Insulin-like Growth Factor Bin...

Objective(s): This study aimed to explore the contribution of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) in the recruitment of B-cell and secretion of immunoglobulins (Igs) during cerebral tuberculosis (TB).Materials and Methods: In this work, the contributing role of TNF in regulating Ig secretions was investigated by comparing wild type TNF (TNFf/f),...
متن کاملStudy on the Effects of Chloroformic Extract of Securigera Securidaca on Serum Glucose Level and Liver Glycogen Content of Mice
Although Securigera securidaca (Ss) has long been known for its hypoglycemic effect, the precise nature of its effective component(s) and the involved mechanisms have not been investigated yet. This study investigated the effect of chloroformic extract of securigera securidaea seed on fasting serum glucose and glucose tolerance test, body weight, food consumption and liver glycogen content. Chl...
